Altered Notebook - Answer with Love (Tutorial)

I love having a pretty notebook to write down whatever it is I need to write down. It might be a place to keep card and craft ideas. It might be a place to write grocery lists or keep scores when we play games or it might just be to write some random thoughts each day to capture the joys of life. Whatever it is, why use a plain notebook when with a few simple steps, you can have something that is uniquely yours! And, while you're making one for yourself, make a 2nd one for a friend. :)

Not sure how to start? Here's my process:

1. Pick out your papers and your image. I used some paper from a pack I've had in my stash for a while. I also had a bunch of butterflies and stars that I'd cut on my cameo from the same paper pack that I also had in my stash. The image is Dancing Chick from Pickled Potpourri. Isn't she awesome! I knew she'd be perfect for a project like this. The sentiment is from You've Got Mail, also a Pickled Potpourri Designs digi. It's an awesome reminder which also made it the perfect sentiment to go with the happy image on a super useful journal.

2. Get out the Yes! Glue and a notebook of some sort and go to town. I use a plastic spreader from the paint department to get a nice thin layer of glue across the cover. A little goes a long way with Yes! Glue. It's messy but it's awesome and it cleans up nicely with water. It doesn't wrinkle or warp so it's the best.

3. Get a feel for your lay-out. Lay the image on top. Play with angles and layer pieces. I decided I wanted the cheeriness of butterflies flying all around the happy dancing girl. :)

4. Heat set the image, if you didn't use a laser printer. Color with Copics. I kept it simple - not a lot of blending as this didn't need it.

5. This is how it all turned out. I kept adding butterflies and stars until it had a floaty and fun look and then added some pearl stickers to the butterflies and to the flower on her jeans to finish it off.

6. Final project. I decided to use this for a gift exchange and made a treat bag to go with it - chocolate and a happy notebook. What could be better?!

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial. I sure had fun making this sweet project.

Have a wonderfully creative day!!
