Just Dance!

Happy September!!! I hope you are as excited for a 3 day week-end as I am!! I work on a college campus and classes started last week. It's great to have the vibrancy of students on campus so I channeled some of their awesome energy into this card. It's also great to have the break from the challenges of parking once they're back. LOL

How wonderful is this image from Just Dance from Pickled Potpourri Designs!! I love the joy in this image and wanted it to be the highlight. I printed the image on kraft cardstock and then went to town with distress oxide inks. Carved pumpkin is around the image, mermaid lagoon and wilted violet are on the edges. I used a dauber to blend them into each other. Then I spritzed the edges with water and dabbed with a paper towel to get all that texture. Isn't it lovely?! I didn't mask the image when adding the inks. I turned the dauber to an angle and pulled the inks away from the image. You could also do this with a make-up sponge or brush or a q-tip. The same ink colors were used on the sentiment strip from the Today digi stamp set. Love how it turned out! This would be a great birthday, congratulatory or a friend card to send.

Butterflies are Free to Fly

Hey all - it's Seleise and I'm here with an absolutely wonderful digi from Pickled Potpourri Designs. Butterflies are Free is a *1-step* digital stamp that is just stunning. I used copic markers to color the image and distress oxide inks to highlight the image and the card base as well. Love the distressed look you get when you spritz them with a bit of water, don't you?!!

Here are the markers used. I often take pictures like this so that if I want to re-create the card, I don't have to start from scratch.

Pastels and Pearls: Tail Feathers

Springy colors and pearl accents highlight the super cute Tail Feathers Digital Stamp from Pickled Potpourri Designs on Etsy.

I had a little "help" with this project as my sweet kitty did NOT want me to do anything but focus on her. I reached over to pet her and she laid on my hand to try to keep me from finishing. Silly girl.

Eventually I got my hand back and was able to get back to crafting. Check out this happy chick all colored up with copics and sure to bring a smile to the recipient!

I like to take photos with the copic markers used in case I want to make more of the same or want to repeat the color palette.

And, who says you have to keep all your chicks in traditional colors?!! I love to play with bright cheery colors for bright cheery cards.

Here are the copics used for this sweet image.

And, a third card made with this same set, using the same colors as the other single chick card. Using dies to make cut-out windows, you can add some visual interest to the card by having the image overlap the window.

Happy cards for happy people!

Tractor

I'm a Kansas farm kid and there's nothing like tractor and wheat to bring memories of home back to me. My dad was a farmer and our farm wasn't big but it took care of us and he took care of it. He was proud of working the land and he worked hard. We had a tractor similar to this (although ours were always red...*grin*). But, I was in a green mood and wanted to play with distress inks as a coloring medium. I used daubers and q-tips as well as several colors or green, grey and amber.

This digi stamp set is called Tractor Digital Stamp Download.

You can find it on the Pickled Potpourri Etsy shop here:

I love it for several reasons. Not only does it have the memory factor but it's also perfect for making masculine cards, cards for farmers, sympathy cards for rural friends and homespun cards.

Here's another version of the tractor, this time colored with copics C2, C5, G12 and G28. This tractor image was printed, colored and popped up on some awesome digital paper that is also available on Etsy. It's called Stained Glass Medley Digital Papers Download! I love how this sheet looks like farmland from an aerial view. This would be a super birthday card, get well card or an awesome notecard set, don't you think?!!

Sew Fun!

Happy New Year!! It's 2019 and with a new year comes some exciting new changes for Pickled Potpourri Designs. We're on Etsy now and there are some awesome new and classic digital stamp sets and papers for you to check out!

I don't know about you but I get stuck on a coloring medium and then can't seem to let it go for a while. I'm currently still obsessed with Prismacolor pencils so it's another month with colored pencil goodness on the cards below.

This first card is from the Pickled Potpourri Designs  digital stamp set - Sew Fun! I was immediately drawn to this sweet little mouse sewing on a pincushion. How darling! The whole set is just as cute as it can be. You could make a fun box card with all the parts or you could decorate up a composition journal for a sewing friend to take notes or so many great options.

And, this sweet little mouse image is layered on the oh, so lovely and fabulous Juliette digital papers download. I can't tell you how much I LOVE this paper and to have it available to print on demand... be still my heart!

You may have noticed that I didn't post in December. As with all of you it was a busy and fun time with friends and family and parties and appointments and shopping and baking and... :) So, I saved my Christmas image to get a start on cards for 2019. To be honest with you, I didn't get any cards made to send at Christmas so may wait and do Groundhog's day or St. Patty's day or something silly. :)

But, back to the card, this lovely candle collage image just made me happy and it colored beautifully as it's got lovely shading already in the drawing. I just accented it with a bit of color.

This is from the Christmas Candle digi set. I kept the background simple so the image would be the focus. Such a lovely set.
